Starlink opens a beta that lets one host sell Wi-Fi passes from a single kit
Starlink Community is a beta where a host shares one Starlink kit and nearby users buy hour, day, week or month passes. What it means for farms with a second house.

What changed
Starlink has put up a sign-up page for a program it calls Starlink Community. A host sets up a Starlink kit where several homes or users are nearby. Those users connect and buy a pass by the hour, day, week or month. Starlink’s page says it “takes care of payments, user access, and connectivity,” and that the host earns from every connection.
SatelliteInternet.com reported the page on 2026-10-01 and Drive Tesla Canada on 2026-10-05. Drive Tesla reported that hour, day and week passes cover one device and a month pass covers up to four. Starlink has not published pass prices or the host’s share. The page is an interest form, not an order page: it says to apply and “be the first to get notified” when the program reaches your area.

Who it affects
This is aimed at a host with neighbors who want internet: a farm with a hired hand’s house or a rental cabin, a campground, a crossroads store, a small group of homes. SatelliteInternet.com lists what the sign-up form asks for: a bank account, a tax ID and a US W-8 tax form, plus where the site will be and how many users you expect.
If you just run your own house, barn and shop on one Starlink line, nothing changes for you. That is your own network at one service address, and this program is not needed for it.
What it means for your setup
Until now, the honest answer to “can I sell my Starlink to the tenant house?” was no. SatelliteInternet.com notes that reselling on a Residential or Roam plan breaks Starlink’s terms. Our multiple buildings guide says the same: one connection can serve your own buildings, but a second household that pays you is a different matter.
Starlink Community may become the approved way to do that, but it is a beta with no prices. Until it opens in your area, the choice is still the one in the guide: wire the second house onto your own network for family, or have the other household get its own service.
The networking part is unchanged. If the second house is 400 ft away, you still need a bridge or a buried run to get the signal there. Starlink’s page says hosts can add Starlink routers or kits to reach further, but it says nothing about outdoor links between buildings.
What to do now
- If you already charge a tenant for internet on a Residential or Roam line, read Starlink’s terms. The program’s existence doesn’t make the old setup allowed.
- If you want to host, the only step today is the interest form linked from Starlink’s Community page. Starlink has not said who gets in.
- Plan the link first. Use the planner to see what reaching the second house would take, whatever plan feeds it.
What stays the same
- Running your own buildings on one line is the same as before. That is your own LAN.
- The physics of reaching another building: Cat6 up to 328 ft, a bridge or fiber beyond that.
- Residential service is still tied to its registered service address.
What we don’t know yet
- Pass prices, the host’s share and any monthly fee for the host.
- Which Starlink plan a host’s kit runs on, and whether data caps apply.
- When, or if, the beta opens to US hosts in rural areas.
